In April of 1968, Hiram “Ross” Grayam set out on his familiar milk delivery route, unaware that it would be his last.

A decorated WWII veteran, Grayam had faced the horrors of the Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of two concentration camps. After the war, Grayam became a beloved milkman upon returning to Indian River County.

As dusk settled, a concern grew when Grayam failed to return home after work.

Florida's Indian River County Sheriff's Office (IRCSO) launched a search that would unveil a chilling scene. Deep in the woods, Grayam's body and truck were located. Grayam had been shot several times. Despite exhaustive efforts, his killer eluded justice.

Fast forward 56 years, that fateful night still lingered in the minds of detectives who were dedicated to solving the mystery of Grayam’s killer. But the relentless pursuit of truth by the IRCSO Cold Case Unit breathed new life into Grayam's case. Through determination and the cooperation of witnesses, new leads emerged: Thomas J. Williams, now deceased, had confessed to Grayam's murder, his guilt echoing from beyond the grave.

Fueled by a commitment to closure and justice, the IRCSO Cold Case Unit continues the pursue every new lead.
